A lawyer, an exceptional man who fought for justice and good causes not only in Portugal but also internationally, a president to the Portuguese people regardless of one’s politics and position he was open to all, an exemplary politician with a long career in politics, an old school gentleman.  He was 81 years old. The Estoril Coast was treated to a unique concert on Friday 19 July 2019 at the Teatro Mirita Casimiro in Monte Estoril.

Organised by the Cascais Jazz Club The Curt Wilson Alumni Big Band entertained the audience with great music from the big band days. There was a guest appearance from well-known Portuguese saxofone player Nana Sousa Dias as well as Jean-Marc Charmier who played trumpet, both regulars at the Cascais Jazz Club.

For an hour Curt Wilson and his band entertained us with non-stop jazz and big band music. The band get together every few years as Mr Wilson’s band comprise, as the name implies, his former students.  All are professionals working in other fields such as doctors, dentists, Vice-presidents of corporations. When we asked him if they got together often Mr Wilson’s reply was that they only had a few days to rehearse as they all live in different states in the US from Texas and Chicago to Boston and have other jobs. The result however was a superb evening of nostalgic and memorable music of jazz and big band.
